| Lucas shows Daddy where his cookie went. His finger
is all wrapped up for a cut on the tip of the finger - the only way to
keep the bandage on was to wrap the finger in tape. |
 |
| |
| This is Lucas' birthday cake, which was inspired by Lucas'
fascination watching a bulldozer climbing a hill a week before his birthday. |
 |
| |
| Lucas dons his worker hat in preparation for his birthday
party. |
 |
| |
| Typical birthday mayhem. The kids are a mix of
neighbors and daycare friends. Jilli Cook is reaching for a present,
Matthew Wagner and Maddie Cook watch Lucas open a present, Ben Swenson
and Ashley Peterson admire the stack of presents. |
 |
| |
| Lucas takes stock of his toys the day after his birthday
party. It's always easier to see what you've got when it's lined up, of
course. |
 |
| |
| Lucas and Abbie play with the dinosaurs sent by Aunt
Kelly. |
 |
| |
| We spent a day at Valleyfair and Lucas loved the merry-go-round.
We rode it 5 times! |
 |
| |
| Lucas was pretty interested in getting to drive the "antique"
car at Valleyfair. |
 |
| |
| Once more on the merry-go-round. |
 |
| |
| We went to the zoo and only took one photo? That's
Lorinda's Uncle John Detloff tagging behind. |
 |
| |
| This is pretty typical of Lucas -- on the move, and moving
fast! |
 |
| |
| Lucas and Abbie watch the action at the neighborhood
park |
 |
| |
| Lucas helps walk Abbie to the door at the end of a day
at daycare. |
 |
|
| Lucas looks at the calves at the MN State Fair. |
 |
| |
| "We're on the Skyride." (MN State Fair) |
 |
| |
| Daddy and Lucas found 2 carousels at the state fair,
and had to ride them several times each. |
 |
| |
| Lucas was pretty excited after his ride down the big
slide. |
 |
| |
| Where's the key? Lucas looks all ready to drive this
mower. |
 |
| |
| Here he is steering a tractor. Lucas "drove" at
least 12 various machines on "machinery hill" at the fair. |
 |
| |
| We set up the slip-n-slide in the backyard and dutifully
demonstrated how to slide down it, but none of the kids were interested
in anything but playing in and around it. Neighbors Mathew and Nicholas
Wagner don't seem to care they aren't dressed for water play! |
 |
| |
| Lucas dashes up the hill to send the ball back down the
slide. |
 |
| |
| Water must taste better this way... |
 |
| |
| Lucas quenches his thirst at the top of the slide. |
 |
| |
| Several days later we got the slide back out for a playdate
with Ashley. |
 |
| |
| Ashley actually did ride down the slide, but it was a
bit cold. |
 |
| |
| Playing in the wading pool at the bottom with beachballs
turned out to be the most fun. |
 |
| |
| Ashley and her parents Jarrod and Linda join us for dinner
on the deck. |
 |
| |
| Lucas brings all the stuffed animals to Abbie. |
