Grandma and Grandma Coffman visit
May 21-27, 2004

Lucas shows Grandpa how well he can read.

Abbie is not easily separated from her favorite seal and purple blankie.

The kids help Mommy make chocolate chip bars.  Lucas scoops the flour into the measuring cup....

... and Abbie pours in the chocolate chips.

"Are they done yet?".... "Are they done now?".... "How many more minutes?"

Losing patience, the kids resign themselves to reading books while the bars bake.

Lucas and Mommy watch the polar bears at Como Zoo.

Lucas watches Sparky practice his routine about a week before the show officially opens.

Roar?

Abbie helps Grandma and Grandpa through a parking ramp in St. Paul.

The grandparents and grandkids hang out in the front of the Children's Museum.

Abbie keeps her eye on the block as she operates the conveyor belt.

Abbie had a blast playing with the ping pong balls in the water at the museum.

Grandma tries in vain to teach Lucas to perform exeriments on floating and sinking.  Lucas had his own ideas on how to play here -- organizing the disks on the posts, of course.

Abbie runs the truck down the ramp while Lucas does some more organizing.

Abbie concentrates on getting the car lined up properly for a race.

Abbie prepares to inject some chaos into the order that Lucas is generating.

This flower garden fascinated Abbie. She planted the flowers again and again.

Here she does a little grocery shopping with her very own cart.

Lucas weighs a can of beans.

"Abbie, I got the milk and yogurt.  Did you get the bread and cheese?"

Abbie knows how this game works.

Lucas prepares a meal for Grandma...

...while Abbie keeps the restaurant floor clean.

Abbie leads the way through a log.

Abbie makes friends with Emily Elizabeth (sitting on Clifford's foot).

Out for a family drive.

Grandpa shows Lucas how to draw a sports car on the driveway.

Lucas winces as Mommy draws his outline.

Mommy fills in Lucas' face while Abbie works on her "hokey pokey."

"See Abbie!"

Abbie inspects a piece of chalk.

If only we could get her to push the broom around inside the garage...

Abbie gives Grandpa some mustard for his play food hotdog...

... then the kids work together to prepare a sandwich for Grandma.

Lucas read his whole stack of books for Grandma and Grandpa before they hit the road.

A family portrait.

Abbie had enough of the portrait stuff, so we settled for this shot.

Lucas gives out some hugs before Grandma and Grandpa got in the car to continue their road trip.
